Due to the outbreak of Coronavirus all Society activities have ceased for this season. There will be no lectures in April, May or June. We hope to resume in September and hold the A.G.M. before the October lecture. The day visits have been cancelled and also the Guest Evening on March 24th.
The holiday to Glyndebourne has now also been cancelled. Jean Cooper says:
”After carefully considering the course of the COVID 19 virus, and following Government advice, sadly it has been decided to cancel the 2020 holiday to Glyndebourne. Hopefully, we can reconsider a repeat visit next year. Will those members who registered for a place this year please contact me and tell me if they wish me to destroy or return their cheques.”
Please note that filming or attempting to photograph the images displayed during our lectures is a serious breach of copyright and as such is illegal. It can also be very distracting for people sitting nearby.
This branch of The Arts Society has been going for more than 30 years. We meet every third Monday in the month from September through to June, except in December when it is the second Monday of the month. We have 350 members and we are currently admitting new members. Our members come mainly from Bowdon, Hale and Altrincham but we do have some who live in Sale, Northenden and even farther afield as far as Appleton, near Warrington.
We meet at The Cinnamon Club, The Firs, Bowdon, WA14 2QT, for our lectures where tea, coffee and biscuits are served afterwards. The lectures start promptly at 1.45p.m.
As well as having monthly lectures on diverse topics many members also volunteer their time helping out with Church Recording, Tatton Hall, Tabley House etc. Please see the Vounteering page for more information.
Members who would be willing to help run our society by serving on the committee should please make themselves known to any committee member.
