General Information about The ARTS SOCIETY Bowdon

This branch of the  Arts Society is now in its 40th year. We meet every third Monday in the month from September through to June, except in December when it is the second Monday of the month.  We have currently roughly 300 members who come mainly from the Bowdon, Hale and Altrincham area, but we do have members who live in Sale, Northenden and Knutsford but also farther afield, as far as Appleton, near Warrington.

We meet at The Bowdon Rooms, The Firs, Bowdon, WA14 2QT, which have been newly refurbished, and where drinks, tea and coffee are available before and after lectures.

We celebrated our Ruby Anniversary with a special lunch and lecture by Professor Rosalie David on Egyptian Jewellery at Ringway Golf Club on Monday 23rd March.

There was a very succesful day visit to Hoghton Tower and the Haworth Gallery in Accrington in May and it is hoped to organise another trip in September, exact date and venue to be announced.

The Society also likes to organise a four-day holiday each year to places of artistic interest.  The last few years these have been in the UK to south east England to include visits to Glyndebourne Opera, but there have been trips abroad, the last being a party to Berlin for five days.  There will not be a holiday in 2022 but we are hoping to arrange something for 2023.
